Tuesday 13 October

Woke early again so sat upstairs in the lounge area trying to get the Internet watching the sun rise over the lake

Had breakfast in the grand dining room overlooking the lake
Full English breakfast , yummy.
Good bye beech hill hotel
Beautiful scenery going through the lakes and up the kirkstan pass.

Over the border into Scotland and around Loch Lomond working our way to the west coast to the town of Oban. Lovely coastal town where we did our shopping for the 4 days at our favourite shop, tesco. We had to catch the ferry across, not a cheap day out £95 for the 3 of us and the car
The trip out from the port to isle of mull was stunning. It was a 45minute trip, so was able to enjoy a glass of wine taking in the amazing islands
Leaving Oban.

Lightmore. Lighthouse

We had a 30 mile trip to do when we got to mull. The first 10 were easy, but when we had to turn off at Salem, we had to cross the island on a single lane road and the locals didn't hold  back in speed. The owner told us 12 miles so we became a bit worried when we got to the 20 miles and  no house, but there it was around the corner and it is gorgeous, the view is fabulous
June kept her eyes shut  the last 20 miles. We enjoy teasing her, Tim in particular and told her after the long trip that it was the wrong house, she always bites, it's quite funny.

Inside the cottage Is very  comfortable and each room has a view. The owners use it a lot, there is a downfall as no Internet or phone reception . This is our home for the next 4 days. Took awhile to work the kitchen out but had pizzas for dinner, watched pride and prejudice on video (no tv) and promptly fell asleep before the first 10 mins

  1. Loving the photos - it's bringing it all back although I can't recall a bar on the ferry from Oban LOL - mind you though we wouldn't have been able to afford it then anyway!!! Can just imagine Tim telling June it was the wrong house - twisted sense of humour! Loved your story about the clock too - breaking it as you were packing it - I can't imagine what you'll do with a broken clock (wink!). Enjoy your long wind blown & picturesque walks! xx
