Sunday 19 October

Woke with a bang, June thought that the next door neighbours were fighting but truth be known, Barbara fell out of bed!!! It is a double bed with a not so good mattress and when she turned in bed there was no edge to the mattress and being such a light weight she fell gently to the floor exclaiming "oh no" while she banged her face on the bed side table and landed delicately on the floor! Now that's a first !
Things did improve  or so I thought.??
We had breakfast in our minimalist environment dining room with a major discussion about where we are to go today and I won! Really wanted to do the coast as it is amazing, you would think that you were in oz, but first there was a bot fair in Amble  and it started at 8 so we were pumped and ready by 730 with  a 10 min drive. It was on the quayside and when we got there it  was very very quiet ........ I asked a fellow if it was a boot Fair or a market and he said, lass it is both and it's only 8 am on a Sunday, can't expect things to move fast here "hahaha, so we went for a walk.

And watched the sunrise.
We did mange to buy cheap loo paper and veges for the roast we were to have tonight.

The Northumberland countryside is so different to where we have been. It is quie flat and very much like Tassie. . Not many miles between each town and they are all built of the same type of brick/ slate but very pretty and all on the white sandy beaches.

We visited Bamburgh castle .June was battling as the wind was terrible and it was steep and she gets quite breathless,so TIm asked if there was a buggy or something to drive her to the top. They'd told us we could drive in, so here is royalty arriving at the keep with people standing by and opening gates as they thought TIm and June were something special, it was hilarious. We are the silver car.

The castle  has been occupied for over 10,000 years as is to be known as one of  the worlds first coastguard stations.

Here is the view from an archers window
30 tons of wood to make up the ceiling .

Check out the depth of the dungeon entrance, they didn't have a chance
Yes that is me at the bottom, tim ois not the best photographer !
You can't see it but we just off the coast are the farne island groups which is famous for its wildlife. We didn't go out there ,as the sea was too rough.
We Thought We would treat ourselves to a dinner out. We fund a lovely local pub and was looking forward to a nice meal. We arrived at 640 and was told that the "chippy knocked off at 630"

Bit disappointed  we drove to Amble about 6 miles to find that most things were closed as it was a Sunday! Got very noice takeaway tesco! And ate this delicious meal watching the new series of downtown abbey, at least there was something nice! Hahaha  and then the Internet went off, so I said enough is enough and went to bed !
