Monday oct 13

Was woken with a cup of tea and a welcome from candy, you can be lucky.

We dropped Katherine off at the bus station and then headed to tesco for our rendezvous with TIm and June who were travelling from Reading in peak hour traffic.

Sad to say goodbye to my dear friend we headed north, oh no now west, missed the turn off!! With my great navigation skills we got back on track on the m5.

Only took 4 hours with a few stops to arrive at Beech Hill Hotel on lake Windermere. It is an amazing building with fabulous views, mAybe. Bit run down but ok. There was a mix up with the rooms and JUne got a room without a view so after a lot of swapping and changing we managed to get June a room with a view but up stairs with no lift! Lucky she is so sprightly

Had a wander around Windermere and settled for a night in at beech hill hotel. It was originally a houses but converted 50 years ago. A little bit tired in places but had great atmosphere, so had cheese, bread and wine by the fire
