Driving down the road and thought how quaint, opening the gates
Drove around the south of loch na kreal and then inland to cross to craignure on the coast where we catch the ferry back and where we are going to walk around Duart castle. It was quite stark in comparison to the sea drive, with lots of pine forests, not dissimilar to ours.
This castle is the home of the chief of the clan Maclean, bit more run down than Thirlstane castle . the castle dates back to 13th century and was reduced to a ruin after being abandoned in1715. It was restored in 1912 and is set up as a museum. The current chief lives in apartments on the other side of the castle. It was very well done and they showed all the fighting implements they used over the years when fighting to defend the castle and not in kilts! Just their shirts, so use your imagination lol.
